By the Community, For the Community
The DAMA-DMBOK® 3.0 project is uniquely designed to engage and collaborate with the global data community, inviting feedback and insights to shape the future of this foundational framework. By opening the project to contributions from a diverse range of stakeholders, we aim to ensure that the updated DAMA-DMBOK® 3.0 reflects the collective experiences, needs, and aspirations of data professionals worldwide.
Collaboration and Inclusiveness
We recognize the global data community as a vibrant and diverse network of individuals and organizations, including, but not limited to:
-
Individual practitioners and professionals.
-
Academics, educators, and researchers.
-
Thought leaders and innovators in data management.
-
Enthusiasts and advocates passionate about data.
-
DAMA Chapters and affiliated members.
-
Industry organizations and enterprises.
-
Governmental institutions and public sector bodies.
-
Standards organizations and regulatory bodies.
By fostering inclusiveness and encouraging collaboration across these groups, we aim to build a resource that is truly “by and for” the global data community. Through surveys, workshops, focus groups, interviews, and direct engagement, we seek feedback on both the content and format of the current DAMA-DMBOK® 2.0 Revision, as well as ideas and expectations for the new DAMA-DMBOK® 3.0.
Community Engagement
Community engagement lies at the heart of this project. We are committed to creating a platform where every voice is valued, and contributors can help shape a resource that meets the evolving needs of data management professionals. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or new to the field, your input matters. We encourage participation from all corners of the globe, ensuring diverse perspectives and solutions.
A Framework for the Global Community
DAMA-DMBOK® 3.0 is being developed as a framework not only for the global data community but also with its active participation. Together, we will create a resource that reflects the real-world challenges and opportunities in data management, ensuring its relevance and value for years to come.
By building a foundation of inclusiveness, transparency, and collaboration, the DAMA-DMBOK® 3.0 project aspires to be a unifying force for data professionals, providing both a guiding framework and a platform for global engagement.
Managing Expectations
While we welcome and highly value the contributions and feedback from the global data community, it is important to manage expectations regarding the integration of these inputs. All feedback will be carefully reviewed and consolidated by the Editorial Board as part of the development process for DAMA-DMBOK® 3.0. However, the final content and editorial direction will represent a consensus guided by the expertise of the Editorial Board, which retains full authority over the framework’s structure, themes, and content. This ensures that DAMA-DMBOK® 3.0 maintains its integrity, coherence, and alignment with DAMA® International’s standards and mission.

Contributing Guidelines
We are actively working on developing clear guidelines for submitting feedback and content proposals, including policies on intellectual property (IP), confidentiality (NDA), and structured review processes. These guidelines will ensure a transparent, consistent, and fair approach to incorporating community input into the evolving framework.
We appreciate your patience as we establish these processes and look forward to collaborating with data professionals, educators, and industry leaders to make DAMA-DMBOK® 3.0 a truly community-driven resource!
